Dulcamara: 'Sali l.luna!'

Post by is »

One of the traditional music groups in Asturias that breaks the usual pattern of Celtic music and brings it closer to the repertory of folk singing in the countryside is Dulcamara. Listen to this short clip from their first CD, titled 'Sali l.luna!' (Come out, moon!) on the web site of Les Noticies:

http://www.lesnoticies.com/

Go to the article titled 'Ya puedes sentir los cinco finalistes del premiu al meyor cantar n'asturianu en 2008' and click on the 2nd track for the song in a mix of West Asturian and Galician-Asturian 'Ua noite chorando, ua noite mui fria...' Maybe Carlos will know where the song is from, but I'm guessing it may be from the county of Vil.layon along the River Navia.

Dulcamara are 5 girls who sing acapella with flat drums (pandeiros). I'll post a few of their clips from youtube.

http://www.lesnoticies.com/

Here are some tracks I found for Dulcamara on youtube:

Four of the members of Dulcamara playing with Pepin de Munalen (flute) and another fellow (?) on bouzouki for Xose Anton Ambas' 'Camin de Cantares', on Asturian Public Television (TPA):

Playing the 'pandereta' (flat drum) at Church of St Loic in Lorient, Brittany, 2007 (sound not very good):

Buenas.

Hi there. I've just discovered this website (and the organization) and it has been a very pleasant surprise. It strikes me as a very real expression of love for Asturias. I think Dulcamara is a fantastic little band and proof that Asturian traditional music is alive and well with all sorts of bands exploring different directions. Greetings to all of you and Puxa Asturies!

PS My English is not that good so I will refrain from translating myself. I hope writing in Galician-Asturian is also not a problem for you.

Muitas gracias polos tous comentarios, Edu d'Ozcos.

----

Thanks for your feedback, Edu d'Ozcos. Asturianus is the result of the hard work by Art Zoller Wagner, who is also the web manager based in Maryland.

It's great to have people like you who write in Asturian and Galician, so no worries. Could you tell us more about the Ozcos region in West Asturias? A while back we had someone tell us about Taramunde, pero no one has written about Santalla (Sta. Eulalia), Samartin (San Martin) and Vilanova (Villanueva).

Hiya, Is. I'll follow your advice and it will be a pleasure for me to write about the Ozcos region in order to share landscapes and local lore from that part of Asturias. I'm still poking around this website but will hopefully find that part of the forum to tell you about my land, my country. Greetings to all.

¡Bienvenido, Edu!

http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

¡Tengo ganas de leerlo!

Welcome, Edu!

The best section of the forum for writing about the landscape and folklore of your region is probably "About Asturias":
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

I look forward to reading it!
