My maternal grandfather (Jesus Gonzales) went by the name "Posada". He was born in Viono, Asturias, married Dolores Artimez (from Luanco...or Luarco) and after arriving in this country, traveled from Grasselli to Monongah to Ardmore to Zeising, and finally settled in Langeloth Pa. He was visited by many people who were having muscle or bone problems and he cured many of them. He was also know for his wonderful moonshine, cider and wine, as well as taking in people who recently arrived in this country. I am interested in knowing of any persons who knew of him during his lifetime.

Hello, RVazquez:
Near the village of Luanco lived a man who everybody knew as "Posada". He lived in a small place known as VIOÑO. He was very famous around Aviles because he cured bones, muscles, etc. and he was always the first option before to visit the doctor. In fact, I and my family went to see him several times for problems like swerves, wrenchs, etc. as he used very mild solutions that worked.
Perhaps he was one of your relatives....
I think he is died but I know that his family is still living in Vioño. They have what in Asturias is called "a casería" (a farm). I´ll try to contact them.

Hello:
Today I went to see the person who is called "Posada de Vioño". He is now 86 years old and is now in the hospital. He had a hearth problem, but he is getting better.
I talked with one of his daughter. Her name is Gely (a short version of Angeles). She said that her grand-uncle in USA was called Jesús González. So, I think they are family of yours. She said that he married a lady here in Asturias and then they went to America. He had also a brother that returned to Asturias. Jesús stay in USA and had several sons....
Gely also said that last summer she went to Ohio where she met many cousins (some of which live in Ohio, in Pennsylvania, Tampa....). She is in contact with them.
Is is possible this family here is related with you?
Gely said she would be delighted to know something else about you.
Yours,
Marta.

My grandfather, Jesus Gonzalez Posada, was born on Viono and took up the trade of his father....curandero or bone doctor. His brothers Javier (who migrated to Cuba), and Manuel who stayed at Viono. I have visited there and have met cousins Manuel, Luis (who lives at La Puente), Fernando (who lives at Bar Azul), and Javier who lives in Luando and has a tuna fish cannery as well as several ships. My grandfather practiced his craft of setting bones in Langeloth, Pa, and was quite well known in both the Spanish and American communities. One of his most famous "clients" was Joe Pepsic, a professional baseball player from Slovan, Pa. "Pop" cured his ailing shoulder with home remedies.

Bob,
Yes I have heard of the Posadas. They have a family reunion every August in Hanover Twp., Washington County, Pa. I went last year but was unable to attend last weekend.

Yes, the Posadas in Viono are my grandfather's (Jesus Gonzalez Posada) nephews. I met Manuel years ago and recently visited Viono and was sad to learn that Manuel died. Manuel's brother, Fernando, lives in BarAzul and has a son, Jesus, who along with his sister, has an Autoescuela in Avlies. Evidently Manuel's son still serves as "curandero" in Guzon. I'm sorry to be late in answering your post. Thanks for your imput. bobV
