Bollinas
Made Bollinas this weekend. Delicious and also used Bob's grandmother's method for making slit in dough and pulling end through. Delicious, but still trying to perfect working with the dough to keep from opening in hot oil. You said work dough and it should not be sticky. I kneaded it for 10 minutes...

Morcilla
The responses are interesting. I went fishing with cousin and friends so the conversations were very good. My cousin John whose dad used to make the morcilla also says they were boiled before smoking. Art mentioned that in his piece. Also John's dad had told me in the past that not a lot of blood wa...

Morcilla Y Manjar Blanco
Regarding the Manjar Blanco, I had to use my Spanish dictionary to translate. It looks like a chicken, seasoned with safffron, cooked with milk, sugar, rice flour, and finally asadero cheese. If I am correct, isn't this a very sweet chicken dish? Regarding the morcilla, the owner of Carril's Market,...

Thanks
The Donora Census you provided was very helpful. I found my grandfather and his family, my father and aunts and uncles. My grandfather's last name was spelled with two ls instead of one as is the current spelling. He was 35 at the time and my father was 14. It helps put things in perspective.

Cono?
I find it hard to believe that my grandmother was meaning pussy or cunt. She used the expression in an agitated way, but I think she meant silly boy or some other demeaning word. Now if I refer to someone as a pussy , I am usually kidding and inferring that the person acts like a girl, or is a weak ...

Fideo Soup
My abuela made this soup especially for me as one of my favorite foods was simply garbanzos or potaje de garbanzos. After she made the garbanzos, she used the broth with angel hair pasta to make the soup. It is extremely flavorful and became a favorite of my kids. We lived next door to her and each ...

Ramon Carril family
I'm trying to get info on my great grandfather and other family members. My grandfather, Vicente Carril was born Sept 1895. His mother was Maria Alvarez and father Ramon Carril. Ramon Carril had other children, Celedonio, Eugenio, and Manuel prior to the birth of my grandfather. In addition to my gr...

Bollinas
I only registered today and am told cannot email. I also make Bollinas, but often have difficulty keeping them from coming open in the oil. When they do not come open it is because I have worked extra hard in folding the edge over, using a fork to lock the edge, and then turning the edge again. Is t...
