Personally I don't like. It's an extremely cruel and unpleasant art/sport/whatever. Its modern fandom is small and dwindling (and it never was too large in Asturies), even in traditional bullfighting territories. For instance in Oviedo the bullring was closed down three years ago due to structural p...

Hi :) Here I bring to you the link of a page that maybe will be of your interest. It's the Atlántica XXII's page, a new (one year since its creation) journal about Asturian politics and culture. It's written by professors, academicians and journalists considered outsiders by their fellows and member...

Do you see the public education, health care, and other systems being dismanteled in Spain? Yes, I do. From my point of view the public education has worsened its quality enormously through the last decades just as the health care, while the private sector has, and is, gaining strength. I really th...

I think Spaniards are the opposite. There's a tendency to have a position of everything and to argue about everything. Conflict-lovers. But nobody really tries to solve nothing. After all It's better and easier to settle problems by talking about them while drinking a cold beer instead of getting in...

I think he means that the Communist bloc forced capitalist countries to provide their workers and citizens a welfare system because if they didn't do it, they'd run the risk of proletariat revolutions. To avoid the risk the 'revolutionary forces' were calmed down. I think this happened mainly in Eur...

Thanks for the info, Anzu ;). Knowing the ALLA has published researches on this topic, I'll seek some tittles. It's really interesting. Anyway if we tried to change our surnames to the original spelling, I'm sure it wouldn't be understood correctly. I mean, If I did it, I would be trying to recover ...

I didn't know that Asturian patronymics used -i as suffix instead of -ez , do you have any source to consult, Anzu?. It really makes sense anyway, considering the amount of places ended that way; Canteli, Esteli, Carrandi, Llamasandi, Villameri... It seems Latin genitive survived here somehow better...
