Hi everyone!
It took me a while to register, but I think this finally worked. I'm from Langreo-Asturias. I'm sure Terechu will be familiar with where I'm from because it's one of the counties bordering San Martin del Rey Aurelio and of course Sotrondio.
I found this web site because, although I live in Langreo, I'm married to a man from County Casu (Tanes) who is part of the organizing committee for the 'fiestes de la Madalena' and, of course, of Paro'n Gorreta. But I'll let him explain the meaning of the term some other time.
My own roots are Asturian and Galician, and in my home there were no stories of people leaving for Cuba or elsewhere. But I love your web site and your interests, which I also share.
Big hug from Langreo and keep working at this nice project.

Paro'n gorreta

Please ask your husband (the man from Tanes, County Casu) what 'Paro'n gorreta' means because we've been stumped for a while about its meaning.
Still, we really liked the poster for the 'fiestes de la Madalena' and we posted it on the 'About Asturias' thread (see further up, I'm sure you've already seen it.)
Go back into that thread to tell us what the term means and to explain why the posters were in English this year. Regards from the US and puxa'l Conceyu Casu!
