Talking yesterday with ALLA (Academy of the Asturian Language), they sayed that at the end of this month, more or less, the Normative Dictionary of the Asturian Language, a voluminous book, and a little expensive, will be disposable on line for free, in the ALLA web page:

I've seen the ALLA dictionary in bookstores. But it is indeed expensive because of its girth. That's good news for us. I've never checked it out, but if it carries words in Galician-Asturian, West Asturian and East Asturian, it will be even better news. For the 'Word of the Week', I can never find any East Asturian equivalents, for example.

Vei tiempu que viera esti diccionariu del ALLA nas l.librerias, pero yera abondo caro, igual por ser tan grandon. Sicasi, ia una bona noticia pa nos. Inda nun viera si tien pal.labras en gal.lego-asturianu, asturianu oucidental ya asturianu oriental, pero si ia que si, entos ya bona noticia dafeitu. Pa la 'Pal.labra Selmanal n'asturianu' nun sou quien atoupar el pal.labreiru n'asturianu oriental, per exemplu.

Como diccionariu más "dialeutal", ye muncho meyor el de La Nueva España. http://mas.lne.es/diccionario

El de l'ALLA, ye más normativu.

This is an interesting thread. Thanks, everyone!

The DALLA is all in Asturian, whereas it appears that the LNE shows the definitions in Castellano, which makes easier much for non-native speakers like me. (It takes me 10 minutes to figure out what a DALLA definition means.) I think the LNE shows more regional variations than the DALLA. (Maybe that's what Argayu meant by when he said it's "normative.")

I wish I could find a printed copy of the LNE. If anyone has one for sale, please let me know.

El DALLA es completamente en asturianu, mientras que creo que el LNE muestra las definiciones en castellano, lo que resulta mucho más fácil para los quienes no somos nativos, como yo. (Me cuesta 10 minutos para descubrir que significa una definición en DALLA). Creo que el LNE muestra más variaciones regional que el DALLA. (Tal vez ese sea lo que Argayu quiere decir cuando dijo que es "normativo.")

Me gustaría encontrar una copia impresa del LNE. Si alguien tiene una copia en venta, por favor dime.

Merquiar el diccionaru de LNE nun te sedrá xera fácil porque salío en fascículos (¿habrá esa pallabra n'inglés?) col periódicu de los Domingos. Daben un capítulu selmanalmente y llueu regalaben la portada pa que cada unu/a lu llevare a encuadernar. Ye daqué abondo habitual n'España que la prensa diaria ufierte llibros en fascículos a la manera de los folletines clásicos del sieglu XIX.

Igual se podría topar en dalguna tienda de llibros de segunda ano o nos mercadinos (dalguna vegada téngolu visto).

Daban un capítulo semanalmente y luego regalaban la portada para que cada uno/a lo llevara a encuadernar. Es algo bastante habitual en España que la prensa diaria oferte libros en fascículos a la manera de los folletines clásicos del siglo XIX.

Igual se podría encontrar en alguna tienda de libros de segunda mano o en los mercadillos (alguna vez lo tengo visto).

It won't be easy fpr you to buy the LNE dictionary because it come out in
chapters [periodic installments - the word appears derived from the Latin for little bundles] (do you have this word in English?) in the Sunday supplement. They publish a weekly chapter and then provide a binder so that everyone can collect them into s single volume. This is something very usual in Spain, for the daily press to offer books in installments like the classic serial stories of the 19th century.

They can also be found in second hand book shops or in small markets. (I sometimes have seen them there).

Thanks, Berodia! That email address worked. They say they have copies, which they sell for 60€. You have to pick it up in one of their offices, though.

I am totally sure you can find in el Fontan flea market every Sunday morning in Oviedo There is an stall where they sell all the books published as periodic installments and that are given by free with the Sunday newspapers.
For sure they collect the free installements from the newspapers, bind them as a book and sell them for a fraction of the price. I remember buying one book about Asturian cooking for only 12 EUR.

Seguro que lo puedes encontrar en el mercado del Fontan en Oviedo un domingo por la manana. Hay un puesto especializado en vender libros que provienen de fasciculos gratuitos dados por los periodicos dominicales.

Seguro que cogen los fasciculos, los encuadernan y luego los venden como libros por una fraccion de su precio. Recuerdo haber comprado un libro de cocina asturiana por 12 EUR

I did look unsuccessfully in Gijón at the flea market near the Museo del Pueblo de Asturias.

Hi Art,

For second hand books and similar stuff the only day is Sunday. I believe that on Thursdays there is market day there where all the farmers from the sourrodings of Oviedo bring fresh vegetables for the sale.
In the Fontan square there are now a couple of sidrerias and two or three shops selling Asturian delicatessens

Para libros de segunda mano el unico dia es el Domingo. Creo que los jueves es dia de mercado y que hay productos frescos que traen la gente de los alrededores de la zona.
En la plaza del Fontan hay ahora dos sidrerias y un par de tiendas que venden producto tipico asturiano
