Thanks for this link, Bob. I found my great-grandparents' marriage license there, as well as my grandfather's (on my non-Spanish mother's side) death certificate.

Both documents gave me new information on their respective parents.

People looking in the West Virginia record for birth certificates of the first generation born in the US of Spanish parents should know that they were often filed well after the fact. My own dad's birth certificate was filed in 1930, 13 years after he was born. Nevertheless, it served for passport purposes.
