25th Anniversary DVD Edition: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Post by Sweeney »

I just wanted everybody to know that the 25th Anniversary DVD Edition of the Movie "ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES" is now out. You can buy it online at Amazon.com.

What does this have to do with Asturian-Americans? Most people do not know this, but the Star of the movie, David Miller, is the grandson of poor Spanish immigrants from Salinas, Asturias, Spain. Oh yeah, he is also my brother. He and some of his friends made the movie after graduating from college. The movie is so bad it is good. It won worst movie of the year shortly after its release in 1978. 8)

Wow! Asturians are everywhere! I'm impressed!

Killer tomatoes, eh? I've never seen the movie, but I'm guessing they don't attack with heartburn....

I'll add a shameless plug. If you were to buy this or anything on Amazon using our affiliate link, you'd be helping pay for our Web hosting and domain names. Moreover, it doesn't cost you anything to use our link:

Tomates asesinos, ¿cómo? Nunca he visto la película, pero adivino que no atacan con la acidez de estómago....

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Donna!?! That title is so funny it must be a cult movie by now!
Do you know any other actors or celebrities of Asturian descent? I can think of Gloria Estefan, whose maternal grandparents were from Pola de Siero, and Mexico's president Vicente Fox, whose grandmother was from Cangas de Onís. I also believe Martin Sheen has some Asturian ancestors.

Saludos

Yes, the movie is considered a cult classic. The movie was pretty bad, but it was made to be that way. The amazing thing is young college graduates made the movie on their own. They financed the entire movie themselves. They handmade all their props and the actors did all their own stunts. There is a helicopter crash in the movie that was real. The pilot was coming down for a landing when the tail blade hit the ground. The helicopter when into a spin and crashed. Luckily nobody was hurt badly. The actors and pilot ran from the burning helicopter and for the rolling cameras exclaimed they were attacked by Kamikaze Tomatoes. 8)

I love the movie and even have an "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" poster in my office. Now I find out that Donna's brother--who must be my third cousin just as Donna is--is resposnsible for it. Small world.

Well, I didn't know the film but I looked on Yahoo, and I was delighted to see the name of my cousin's brother, also my cousin, among the film's actors, what a dream even though I am not acquainted with the film!, not if we Asturians wander to many different places! also, greaatings to my cousin BOB, because we are all cousins as well. My great-grandmother was MARIA VERDIN ARTIMEZ and my great-great-grandmother MARIA ARTIMEZ OVIES, or as a refrain goes "the relatives of my relatives are relatives of mine, I think this is so.
