Garcia Llanos/Vidal/Argansua

I am interested in leads to locate Asturians related to Salvador Garcia Vidal & wife Vicente Llanos Argansu(a) b. 1836 of Asturias. Son Joaquin Garcia Llanos emigrated or was shipped as a soldier to either Cuba or Puerto Rico during 1870s. Don't which area of Asturias they are from. Aibonito, PR church record on Joaquin's marriage to a local only describe him and his parents as from Asturias, Spain. So my best bet is to locate his military record/passport in Asturias, but where? Ellis Island records are of no aid given the year.

U.S. Census records show Joaquin naturalized in 1880 EU, so he had to be in the U.S. 5 years prior to naturalization, but where? Puerto Rico was not a U.S. possession until 1898.

Also the name Llano(s) is most frequent in Asturias, but Argansua is very unusual name and wonder if the audience might know where it came from.

The registro civil didn't start up until 1871-1872, so your best best is to look in parish records.
