Tamargo/Artime

Post by j0ellen71 »

Hello, all!

I'm new to this community, and I'm very excited to have found it.
I look forward to browsing the forums, learning more about my heritage, and interacting with other members.

My father (2nd generation Asturian-American) and I have been trying to put together a more detailed family tree to pass on, and I haven't been able to find any information prior to my Great-Grandparents' arrival in Moundsville, West Virginia from Spain.
I have hope that maybe someone here might be able to help guide me in the right direction, or better yet, have some answers!

Following a guideline (http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2409) from Art, the site Administrator, I have the following information to share:

*My Great Grandfather was Joseph (Jose) Tamargo, born approximately 1891 in Asturias, Spain, and died approximately 1931 in New York City.

*My Great Grandmother was Elvira Artime, born approximately 1890 in Asturias, Spain, and died approximately 1955 in New York City.

*They had seven children in all, but the first two were born in Spain, and came to the U.S. in approximately 1913. Their names were Joseph & Gladys Tamargo and were born in 1909 and 1911, respectively.

*They went on to have Helen, Elzise (Elvira), Enriquita (Harriet, my Grandmother), Celestino (Charles) and Gabino (Jobino) in West Virginia.

*At the time of the 1930 U.S. census, the lot of them resided in New York City.

Again, I am so happy to have found this community and look forward to continuing participation.
What a wonderful place you've created here!

Regards,
Jo

Welcome, Jo!

Your family names have been mentioned frequently on the forum. Be sure to search for them. To search for the word "Tamargo" on the site, type:

Code: Select all

site:asturianus.org tamargo
Here's a link to that search on Google:
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aa ... rg+tamargo
Just replace "Tamargo" with "Artime" to see those results.

I suspect that Bob and Ron will have some comments, too. You may even be related.

¡Bienvenida, Jo!

Los nombres de tu familia han sido mencionados con frecuencia en el foro. Sería una idea muy buena buscar para ellos. Para buscar la palabra "Tamargo" en el sitio, escriba:

Code: Select all

site:asturianus.org tamargo
Aquí está un enlace para esa búsqueda en Google:
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aa ... rg+tamargo
Puedes sustituir "Tamargo" por "Artime" para ver los otros resultados.

Sospecho que Bob y Ron tendrá algunos comentarios, también. Tal vez estáis relacionados.

Hi, Jo,
I had a aunt who lived at Donora, PA:,Primitiva (Arrojo) Tamargo. She had one son, Joe, who also lived in Donora and operated Tamargo Pepsi (Mon Valley Pepsi Company). His father died before my time, so I never knew him. If you check out the Photo Album, I added a photo of my aunt standing beside his grave stone.
