El gallo que bailó en la luna

Post by Joniwrite1 »

My grandmother sang a song about a rooster who danced his way to the moon.
In the U.S.A. we look at the moon and the surface appears to have the shape of a man's face. Granny told me that children in Austurias see a rooster instead. Whenever the harvest moon appeared over our California foothills she would sing a song about "El gallo que bailó en la luna". As I recall the rooster had a high opinion of himself and was always trying to find a higher perch. He sang "Cu-ca-la-roo, cu-ca-la-roo" and was lost in himself as he climbed the chestnut tree, the hills to La Peral and then to the stars above. He finally danced on the moon and has been there ever since!

Does anyone know the words to this song?
