The Widower and the Xana: a Celtic Myth in Asturian folklore

Post by Mouguias »

"The Widower and the Xana" was collected from oral tradition in East Asturias by Aurelio del Llano in early XXth century, then again by Berto Peña a few years ago. This text tracks the ancient origins of the tale, back to a Celtic myth about kingship and sovereignty which has come down to us recorded in medieval Irish sources.
The paper is intended for people without prior knowlegde about Asturian culture.
