Ricky Martin and Benicio del Toro have become Span. citizens

Post by Terechu »

By virtue of their having Spanish grandparents, R. Martin and Benicio del Toro have become the most famous new Spaniards:

Question: My Grandfather is from Cabrunana, Grado, Asturias Spain. Could I apply for Spanish citizenship based on that? Or do both my grandparents have to be from Spain. Like Benicio Del Toro I was born in Puerto Rico. My Grandfather came from Spain in approx. 1836 and settled in Puerto Rico. He married my grandmother who is Puerto Rican and whom I also think came from Spain in an earlier wave of immigration to the island- however, I'm not 100% certain that she is from Spain.

You could apply, but under the Law of Memory you only have a very few days left. There are several threads about it, but this is probably the best:
