On Youtube, there is a video of a violinist in costume wearing wooden shoes, playing an old violin, and singing a song.
I would like to know more about this violin and the Asturianu word for the instrument. Further, I did not know that Asturians wore wooden shoes. It would also be of interest to know what region of Asturias that this man comes from and the name of the song he is singing.
If anyone has an idea, please post a reply.

En Asturias se usan zapatos de madera y se llaman "MADREÑES". Tambien existe un instrumento muy antiguo, similar al violín , que se llama "RABEL" o "BANDURRIA" asturiana. Busque esas palabras en Google.

Indalecio,
Thank you for your reply and clarification about the violin and wooden shoes. Even though, my father was born in Asturias and came to this country at the age of seventeen, our family still has a lot to learn about our heritage.
Further, thank you very much for writing in both Spanish and English. I do not speak, read, or write Spanish very well even after three years of study in high school.
I enjoy learning about the people, culture, and history of Asturias.
