Desculpame que tengo escribir en ingles.
My great-grandparents lived in Salamir (in the concejo of Cudillero). They were baptized, married and buried in San Martin de Luiña.
Dionisio Arango y Gonzalez, (born about 1834, died 1894) married Casilda Garcia y Cuervo. They had 11 children. Most of the sons emigrated to Cuba in the late 1800s. Except for Filomena, the girls married locally and remained in Spain. Here is a list of their children:
1- Egidio, born abt 1853, died after 1894
2- Pedro, born about 1855, died abt 1910 in Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba.
3- Maria, born about 1856, married 10 January 1880 at San Martin de Luina to Alonso Suarez y Garcia
4- Jose, born about 1865, died 24 Dec 1875 in Salamir
5- Candido, born 4 August 1866, married Manuela Estrada y Suarez about 1891 in Havana, died 22 September 1914, Havana. (my grandparents)
6- Celestino, born about 1868
7- Jesusa (Maria Dolores), born about 1870, married Ramon Arango y Fernandez abt 1891, died 24 January 1935 in Mumayor. One daughter, Maria Consuelo Arango y Arango, b. 27 June 1892
8- Juan, born about 1871, died in Camajuanine,Las Villas,Cuba.
9- Alonso, born about 1873, died after 1894
10 - Filomena, born about 1875, died in 1948, Havana, Cuba
11 - Valentina, born about 1876, married Francisco Garcia Menendez, died in 1920 in Salamir. They had 9 children, many of whose children I met in 1997 & 1999 when I was able to visit Spain.
I would love to correspond with relatives who know more about this family.
Thanks!!
