Thanks for mailing me a copy of the article you wrote. I received it today. It is a very good article. I'm making copies to mail to other members of the group.

I'm glad to find out that LNE ia available in other parts of Spain too. My grandniece Sandra, who recently visited us here in Texas, was in Benidorm, Spain, the Sunday the article was published. A friend in Asturias called her and told her that they had read the article. So she was able to buy a copy of LNE in Benidorm on Monday.

Also, I'm almost sure that the local newspaper here, the Fort Worth Star- Telegram is also going to write an article about our search for the ex-refugees. This month is "Hispanic Heritage Month" here, so I wrote the newspaper that the Hispanic community here might be interested in our story. So far, a reporter has talked to me twice to get information for the story.

On second thought, you can leave that photo. It looks like a movie star. Or you could touch it up a little to look more like me.

Let's see... make the hair gray, make the ears bigger, add some wrinkles to the face, also a bigger nose, put bifocals on the face, the eyes should be more squinty, the chin not quite so square. Otherwise it's perfect.

We experienced a temporary glitch in which a photo of Ken Menendez was attached to Corsino's posts. For better or for worse, the problem is now fixed.

All members are invited to submit photos that they would to appear automatically with their posts, as mine does with this one. Just send them to Art, who takes care of the technical details of the website. If you would like my beard superimposed on your photo....

Sorry about that photo problem. That was pretty odd. It could be that when I added Ken's photo, I added it to your profile by mistake. But I did that weeks ago, so it's odd that we would just notice it now.

Do you want me to put a photo of you in your profile? We have at least one in our photo album I could use.

Ordinarily I don't look at that part of the page on the screen because, to read the whole text, I have to slide it to the left and then the photo is not visible.
You may include a photo if you want. Perhaps Harold Swarzernegger's (?)

The local newspaper Star-Telegram printed the article, which included some about our search for the ex-refugees.

Among several telephone calls, was one from a lady that was once married to Esteban Martin. Although I had previously received information that ha had died, he is very much alive. In fact, he lives just a few miles from me and we talked on the telephone. I believe that he said he's from Oviedo, Asturias.
Esteban has a sister, Maruja , who lives near Kansas City, Missouri. Although I don't have her complete address yet, it should be only a matter of time.

What makes the search worthwile is when we're able to get people in contact with each other again. I personally do not know either Esteban nor Maruja Martin, but Arsenio Giron, who now lives in Canada, called me to tell me how glad he was to find where Esteban lives. They were together in an orphanage in Kansas City for a few years after coming to the U.S. but then lost track of each other. He said that they had a long conversation about old times.

Soon , I'll have tyo visit Esteban myself, since he lives only a few miles from me. Possibly, he may have some knowlege of the wheeabouts of some others....

A lead on Manolita Poyuelo...
Esteban Martin gave me an address near Detroit, Michigan where Manolita Poyuelo used to live. I cannot find a phone number for the address, so I have mailed a letter there to see if Manolita still lives there. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Maruja Martin-

I phoned Maruja Martin to verify her address. She lives near Kansas City, Missouri. So that's one less person we have to look for.

Finding Esteban Martin does not reduce the number of "missing", since we had assumed he was deceased and were not looking for him anymore. But we are all glad that he miraculously resurected.

So we are still looking for 17.

Corsino's purpose in having the story written was to spread the news of his search for the other Spanish Civil War refugee children. A list appears in the second message in that thread, but it is no longer up-to-date because of the success of the article!
