Hi, my name is Conán McDonnell and I'm from Belfast. I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself to the forum. Hope you are all keeping well.

I've been living in London for the last seven years where I work as an IT trainer. However my passion in life is for traditional music. I've been playing the accordion for about 15 years and the bodhrán for 24.
Some time ago I developed an interest in Galician music and from there I started to look at other traditional music from Northern Spain.
I love the sound of the gaita; I prefer the Gaita Asturiana to that of Galicia - it has a much richer and warmer sound in my opinion. My favourite player would be Xose Manuel Texedor, although I love to listen to Jose Manuel Budinho and Susana Seivane too.
I hope to travel to Oviedo over the coming Easter weekend and plan on this being the first of many visits to this beautiful region.

This seems to be an excellent resource and a good community; I'm very pleased to have happened upon it. May it go from strength to strength.

Hola, me llamo Conan McDonnell y soy de Belfast. Decidí aprovechar la ocasión y presentarme. Espero que estéis todos bien.

Vivo en Londres desde hace 7 años y soy profesor de formación contínua (empresarial) aunque la pasión de mi vida es lá música tradicional. Llevo unos 15 años tocando el acordeón y 24 el bodhrán. Hace algún tiempo empecé a interesarme por la música gallega y de ahí pasé a mirar otra música del norte de España. Me encanta el sonido de la gaita; prefiero la asturiana a la de Galicia - es más sonora y cálida en mi opinión. Mi gaitero favorito sería Xose Manuel Texedor, aunque también me gusta escuchar a Jose MAnual Budinho y Susana Seivane.
Espero viajar a Oviedo el fin de semana de Pascua y tengo pensado que ese sea mi primer viaje de muchos otros a esa bella región.

Esta parece ser un excelente fuente de información y una buena comunidad; estoy muy contento de haberla encontrado. Que siga yendo a mejor.

Hi and welcome Conan! Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. We have quite a few fans of traditional music in this site, so you should feel in your element. I hope you find other sections equally interesting.

Thanks for the words of welcome, Terechu. It's great to hear there are several Asturian music afficionados on the site. I'm looking forward to learning a great deal from them. I have already started to read some of the other sections; it's wonderful to be able to gain some understanding of a place before visiting.
