I've been looking for information on the town of Miranda, where y granfather was born. I've recently discovered that the Robustiano "Tiano" Menendez family (The Pachicas) of Spelter, West Virginia also have roots there. I'm wondering if other Asturianos have connections to Miranda, and about it's connection to immigrant communities in the U.S.
I found a helpful website for the Parroquia de Miranda www.mrbit.es/miranda and have been in touch with Jose Manuel, the site's contact person. He noted that the site addresses "algunos aspectos de la vida artesanal asturiana, del Bron, la lengua de los caldereros, de Carreño Miranda uno de los grandes pintores españoles, de los emigrantes... apartado en el que aparecen las Pachicas y descendientes de El Rey de la Patagonia, etc."
I'm continuing to explore the many offering at Jose Manuel's site and welcome other stories, questions, information, etc. that members might have. Thanks!
