Bob, I know it has been a long time since you posted this! My mother, Joan Menendez, was the daughter of John Menendez & Edna Voelp, grand daughter of Sabino Menendez & Josephine Artimez. She says Mecha was Joe Menendez wife, Mary Guthierez. Joe was called 'Pepes'. He was my grandfather's brother.
