El maiz fue el factor principal para que el hambre desaparezca de Asturias. Antes, cultivos de escanda o de mijo.

I anyone has a recipe for boroña, please post it in the food section of the forum. I make cornbread quite frequently, but it is an American recipe, not an Asturian one.
I like roasted chestnuts, but here in the US the chestnuts are usually imported from Europe (mostly Italy) because most of our native chestnut trees died in the early 20th century from a blight. They used to be very common here. Our home in New Haven, originally built in 1913, has chestnut woodwork, something that won't be seen in new construction again for many years..
