Hi, Christine,

Acelgas is, as you suggest, Swiss chard. Berza is a very different looking and tasting plant. It's a col. In other words, it's in the cabbage family.

In the US, it's pretty similar to a tender collard or kale, but it grows differently. Berza has a hard stalk that the leaves grow out of, as you can see in the images and link below. There are variants of berza, including in Galicia. Our cultures are similar, aren't they!!
