Villa scored 2 in Spain's 1st game in the World Cup. His goal celebration is acting like he's pouring cider! I love this guy!

I'm not really into sports, but this could get me interested in soccer.

Ditto I've never been interested in watching sports, I'll play them all (well most wouldn’t play cricket, lacrosse, United Statesian football, or any of the extreme sports) but watching them just never was my cup of tea. I do enjoy competitions though for instance I loved watching the Miss Universe pageant.

Yessir! David Villa's nickname is "El Guaje" ("the kid" in Asturian) and he is from Tuilla in Langreo.
I wonder if anyone remembers that another outstanding Villa, coal miners' Union leader (José Angel Fernández Villa) is from the same town.
This other Villa is not very popular with right-wingers, but he singlehandedly managed to stir up the Asturian coalfields to endless protests and demonstrations in the 80's, and thus the EU didn't dare shut all coal mines down, like they did in the UK, Belgium and Germany.
