BUSCO A FAMILIARES EN EEUU/ Looking for relatives in USA

Post by GERMAN_LOPEZ »

Hello to everyone. I live in Oviedo, Asturias and am trying to find the family that we may have in the US. Our family comes from the area of Luarca, specifically Cortina, a very small village near Trevías. There the Lopez family, meaning Tirso and his siblings, lived happily but the necessities of life caused them to emigrate. At first they went to Cuba, and later some of them went to the US.

If anyone thinks they may be related to us, I hope you'll contact me. We presently know about family members who live in Miami who are descendants of these siblings.

Thanks and greetings to all.

The only suggestions I can make are (1) to start with the family members you know in Miami, and (2) to work from the other end of things by looking as passenger lists for ships from Cuba to Miama and New Orleans (which was a port of entry for many cubanos. Lopez is such a common name, and there are so many fairly recent Cuban immigrants to Miami, that a phone book search would be very time consuming.

As I was surfing the net I found a website for the Cuban genealogy club of Miami. Perhaps they could help:

Do you have other information about them, like what part of Miami they live in, their full names, and things like that.
