[/img]I was born in Pennsylvania in 1941 and lived in Langeloth until I completed college at the University of Pittsburgh.
My father was Joseph "Peanuts" Montequin who was born in Cherryvale, Kansas. He worked in the zinc smelter in Langeloth until the plant closed then worked at Wheeling Steel in Follansbee, WV until his death.
My grandfather was Francisco Montequin de Garcia who was born in Castrillon and baptized at San Martin de Laspra. He was married to Elvira Alverez de Fernandez in 1904. They emigrated to Cuba about 1905 and into the U.S. in 1907. He owned Montequin Grocery in Langeloth from 1926 until he retired and closed the store.
After graduation from college, I entered Air Force Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, TX. After I received my commission I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ where I worked on a missle crew.
After leaving the Air Force I worked for a short time in Los Angeles, then briefly in Phoenix before going to work for Missouri Pacific Railroad in St. Louis, MO. After Union Pacific Railroad bought Missouri Pacific, I was transferred to Omaha, NE where I currently reside
