aú: pronounced ah-OO. In some counties shortened colloquially to the form ú (pronounced as in French ‘où’). Interchangeable with ónde, pronounced OHN-day or aúnde, pronounced ah-OON-day. Alverbiu (adverb). Where, in or at what place, part or point. What location or position.

Usage examples:
Aú tas? (Where are you?)
Aú ta la mio fía? (Where is my daughter)
Aú ties el ganao? (Where are your cows?)
Aú foi el tou pai? (Where did your Dad go?)
D’aú vien esi rapaz? (Where is that guy coming from?)
Ú tabes de la que xubía pel camín? (Where were you as I walked up the road?)
Ú ties el móvil? (Where’s your cellphone?)
Taba ónde’l nenu dixo. (He/she/it was where the child said)

Derived forms:
Úlos? (Where are they? Plural masculine)
Úlas or Úles? (Where are they? Plural feminine)
Úlo? (Where is it? Singular masculine or neutral form)

"Ú" meaning "where" (the same as "ou" in French) was still much used when I was a kid, but I'm not hearing it anymore.

"Ú" por "dónde" (como el "ou" francés) todavía se usaba mucho cuando yo era pequeña, pero ya no lo oigo en ninguna parte.

Ambás: Aú tas? Tardei más de lo que dixi? Cómu tas? Que trabayas pela güerta? Entós qué trabayas, aú tienes las vacas? (Where are you? Did I arrive later than you thought? Are you tinkering in the garden? So what are you doing, where are the cows?)

Pepa: Las vacas tan p'ahí p'abaxu. (The cows are down there.)

Ambás: Dame una guiada que baxamos contigo hasta ehí baxo. (Hand me a cowherding stick, we're going down there with you.)

Pepa: Esti...mira, pon aquel...habría que quita-y un pouco el...(Here...look, take that one...we should take a wee bit off of the...)

Ambás: Esi pa ti, you firmo con esti bien! (Keep that one there, I can manage with this one!)
