Hi all! New member: Ana Lombao from Avilés

Post by Anuska »

Hello!

My name's Ana and live in Avilés. I heard about your page many time ago but it wasn't til now that I've taken a look at it. It's wonderful. I've got relatives living in Miami (I don't know them personally) and in Australia (my uncle and my cousin are still living there, too). I've read, but I don't remember exactly in which thread, that you need help to translate the posts. I'd be pleased to help. So if you need translation from English into Spanish just let me know.

Greetings to you all from Asturias.

Hello, Ana! It's good to have you on the forum.

Yes, translation help is always welcome. Your English is excellent! One of the most important things anyone who is bilingual can do is to translate your own messages so that everyone can read them. The simplest way to begin would be to work on one or two areas of the forum that you're most interested in. Which do you prefer? I can set up the forum permissions to allow that.

-------------------

¡Hola, Ana!

Hi!

Thanks a lot Art. You're really kind. I've been studying English for many years now and I'm sure there're lots of things left for me to learn yet. Regarding to translation work I'm up to whatever you decide. We can have a go with a couple of areas that need to be translated, those where you have less translators available. Just let me know and I'll do my best. Sorry because I forgot to translate my own message :-)

Regards.

¡Hola!

Muchas gracias Art.

Saludos.

Okay, Ana, you're all set.

This is an introduction for translators:
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=317
That says we work in teams, which was my idea because I like learning languages in that way. Most of translators have consulted with others only when they have questions. But please feel free to email me any time you want to discuss translating a message.

And here are the guidelines:
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316

You'll also need to understand how images and links work in the forum. Here's a message on links:
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=358
and one on images:
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=114

Thanks, and let me know how it's going!

------------------------

http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=317

http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316

http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=358
y uno sobre imágenes:
http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=114

¡Gracias, y dime como va!

Thanks Art.

I'll read again the guidelines for translators. It's nice working in teams 'cos otherwise translation could become quite boring. Nice to share ideas about terms and their translation (I love translating!). And as you, I love learning languages.

Regards,

Ana.

Gracias Art.

Saludos,

Ana.

Thanks, Ana. Your first translation is great!

As for love of language, I've posted a question that's been bugging me here:

Gracias, Ana.

Hi again Art!

Feel free to tell me whenever you see something wrong in one of my translations, or if you use other words (sometimes there're big differences between American and British English, and all my teachers have been British and Irish).

Thanks in advance!

Hello Ana
I, for one, welcome you as a translator for the Forum. It will help me a lot. There are a lot of posts that I can't read and it's just too much work for two or three people. So, again, welcome to the Forum. I know that you will be a good translator.

Thank you very much!

I hope I'd be of help. At least, as I told Art, I'll do my best. It's really nice to know there're other people at the other side of the Atlantic so interested in their roots and that like Asturias so much :-)

Regards

Ana

¡Muchas gracias!

Espero poder ayudar.

Saludos,

Ana

Ana
Our roots are Asturian, as it is the land that my grandparent came from and is the land were my father was born. Yes, there is a lot of interest on this side of the Atlantic. I hope one day soon to visit. I still have family there. I have said this before: "You don't know who you are 'til you know where you came from." I hope to "know where I came from" in the next few weeks.
