Turismo has decent maps, but you can also use http://maps.google.com to see Avilés in detail. The hybrid feature combining a traditional map with an aerial view is fantastic, too:

Thank you. This is great! Have you tried Google Earth? It is similar to Google maps, but you can do even more with it!

Hi, Charlotte! I played with Google Earth once. It was on an older computer that really slowed down, but I've not tried it since. What does it do differently?

¡Hola Charlotte! Lo probé una vez. Era con una computadora viejo que enlentezció muchísimo, pero no he probado otro vez. ¿Qué hace distinta?

Hi Art
Google earth is the same idea as Google maps, but I think it has more layers that you can choose from. It may be that Google maps has them also and I am just more familar with Google earth.

Hey, Charlotte. When I get a faster computer I'll try it again.

Be sure to check out Iglesias' work. He's good!

Here's a link to the tourist offices in Asturias. The one in Aviles is a short walk from the center of town, and is a good source of maps and other information.

Hi everybody!

If anyone of you need a map of Avilés, I'll send it to you. Just e-mail me in private and give me your address.

But, it would be nice if we could download maps directly from tourism offices, wouldn't it?

And, BTW, I agree with Joe: Avilés is a beautiful city, such a beautilful city... Do I think that 'cos I live here? :-)

On my next visit to Aviles I hope to meet you as well as others who live there. Aviles is a beautiful city. We were there a full day, not much time. What I did see was breath-taking. We also went to the park, just beautiful. I hope to return soon

Hi Ron!

I also hope to meet you on your next visit. Did you visit the French garden inside the park? Just beautiful. We can prepare a nice tour around the city.

I really like Avilés. It wasn't like that 15 years ago, when I was a teenager and the place was small and boring to me. But being abroad living and studying helped me to find out I loved the place. Not a too big nor a too small city. I don't need the car all the time, you can go walking everywhere. And there are really nice spots where you can sit down in a terrace and have something to drink in a quite atmosphere (Sabugo is my favourite one, but also the little square next to the Music School).

Best regards,

Ana
