Northern Spain: An Inspired Anthology and Travel Resource (The Collected Traveler), Collected by Barrie Kerper (New York: Three Rivers Press, 2003). ISBN: 0-609-80978-4.
This book holds a collection of essays by various authors. Two of them are written about travels in Asturias.
"Kicking back in the North of Spain" by Amanda Hesser mostly details a brief vacation of exploring, hiking, spending time on the beach, and eating.
"Casey at the Beach" by Elena Castedo is more touching. She describes a stay in Ribadesella with her eight-year-old granddaughter. The vacation was magical for both abuelita and nieta.
Both of these essays focus heavily on eating, which makes sense given the joys of Asturian cooking. Both essays also describe a level of spending that someone like me could not afford. Nonetheless, the images of Asturias these two essays paint made me even more anxious to return soon.
