I have been researching my husbands family --Jose Garcia Garcia and his wife Josephine Menendez Garcia & found your site. I was thrilled to have found a 2nd cousin who is researching the same family on this site a(shelliekramer). I am anxious to share my research & my sister-in-laws research with her. I only had 1 yr Spanish in HS so I can only intepret some words. How many messages do I have to post before contacting her?
I am so glad this research is being conducted on your site.
Thanks
Shirley

Hi, Shirley, welcome to the forum.

You need a few posts to have access to the e-mail address of our members, but can write to Art to ask for a concrete one. García, as me, "lo bueno abunda"

Hi, Shirley,

We can't say the current number for security reasons, but you could count them on one or two hands.

The simplest way to reach this number is to ask questions about Asturias or its culture. Also, I'm sure people would be interested in hearing about your family's story and your memories of your Asturian ancestors.

The funny thing is that spammers always write silly things, so they're easy to unmask!

Hola, Shirley:

Manuel Garcia son of Jose Garcia Garcia was very proud of his Spanish heritage & Castillon language. He said the correct way to say Garcia was Garthia. Besides Manuel Jr. & Richard he had a daughter Emelia.
Major Manuel (Joe) Garcia Jr. died April 2007 & was buried in Arlington, VA.

Jose Garcia Garcia came to USA in 1910 and returned to USA in 1913 on SS Baltic from Liverpool to NY with his wife & children. He then went to Cherryvale, Kansas to work.

Two of the children of Jose Garcia Garcia were born in Kansas.

I have been busy doing nothing special, but was thrilled to see that there was a post in regard to my previous post. I would love to get in contact with you, Shirley, about our family tree and it sounds like someone has gotten a bit farther with it than I have. This is exciting! I am not sure how we get in contact with each other, as I am more used to non-secure avenues like myspace and email. Although, I must say, I appreciate the effort that is made in making this site very secure and safe.

Can someone help me figure out how I now get in-touch with Shirley Garcia?

If I post enough will I be able to have her direct email?

Fpr security reasons, to avoid our members being spammed, we do not post email addresses. But you can send email to any member who has entered an email address during the registration process by clicking on the email button in one of their posts.

I'd like to add to what Bob has written.

When we allowed all members to email each other directly, we had SPAMmers sending emails to members. So we now require that members post a minimum number of messages before having access to the PM and email system. (It's not many messages but we can't publicize the number.)

An easy way to increase your number of messages is to ask questions. In particular I'd recommend asking about Asturian culture because that's part of our heritage that is easily lost if we don't have much contact with our grandparents. What aspects of Asturian culture do you wonder about?
