Mi familia procede de los Concejos de San Antolín de Ibias, Pola de Allande, Taramundi i Los Oscos.

Espero que no te parezca mal que haya traducido tu mensaje. He pensado que quizás Pilar no entienda todo el contenido (no todos sabemos asturiano). De hecho no sé si está traducido correctamente, porque aún no me he puesto a estudiarlo. O a lo mejor lo entiende perfectamente y esto es una metedura de pata hasta la médula
Confieso que, a veces, tengo que releer los mensajes en asturiano para cerciorarme de que lo he entendido todo.

I hope you are not miffed that I've translated your post. I thought maybe Pilar may not understand what you had written (not all of us speak Asturian). In fact, I'm not even sure if I've translated correctly because I still haven't had a chance to study it [Asturian]. Or maybe she [Pilar] understands Asturian perfectly and I've just put my foot in the mouth
I must admit that I sometimes need to reread the posts in Asturian to make sure I've fully understood.

Muchisimas gracias a los dos : a Is por la página fantástica que me ha permitido encontrar a mis antepasados de Pumares ( qué por cierto eran muy prolíficos ) y a Ana por su amabilidad al traducir el texto. Realmente no sé bable pero intento leer cuantos más textos puedo.

Thanks to both of you: to Is for the great page that has allowed me to rediscover my ancestors in Pumares (who, btw, were highly prolific) and to Ana for her generosity in translating the posts. I don't really speak Asturian [bable], but I try to read as many Asturian-language posts as I can.

Your family, it turns out, is from in front of my friend Elias' farmstead in Presnes! There is no 'Pumares' in Ayande (Allande)--it's called Pumar.

Nearby hamlets, aside from Presnes, are La Veiga, Santulaya, Vil.laverde, L.lantigu, Ablaniel.la...It's a beautiful, sun-exposed valley behind the Celtic hillfort of San L.luis (San Chuis). Art has been there: he hopped on a tractor on his way up to the castro.

Not at all, Ana. Thanks for translating my posts. I often don't have time to do the double translation, it's either laziness or lack of time. So I'm very grateful that you can help us out in this way. It makes for a much more vibrant web site to have fluid communication across English-Asturian-Spanish, and it makes people understand the value of their culture in a new way.
