Ayer vi un documental sobre Asturias...

Hola, en primer lugar, no sé muy bien en qué idioma debo de escribir en este foro ya que hay gente tanto de Asturias y el resto de España como de Latino América y EE.UU.
Soy Alberto, de Xixón, tengo 21 años (aprovecho para presentarme y tal). Ayer de madrugada (serían las 4 a.m.) estaba desvelado haciendo zapping con el mando, cuando llegué a Canal de Historia, ahí paré, no sé por qué, había un tal "Menéndez" hablando en una especie de inglés-castellano-asturiano sobre la inmigración asturiana en EE.UU., también salía un tipo que tenía un restaurante en una ciudad llamada Donora, que también era asturiano, y unas señoras hablando sobre la fabada. La verdad es que me enterneció mucho esto. Me molestó un poco justo haber llegado para ver el final de documental, pero sin duda no me esperaba para nada que ese documental tratase sobre asturianos. El caso es que, cuando llegaron los créditos y agradecimientos del final vi el nombre de este foro: "www.asturianus.org", yo hace unos años me metí un par de veces aquí y recordaba esa dirección, eso hizo que hoy esté aquí narrandoos el asunto. Bueno, un saludo y un abrazo fortísimo desde tierras asturianas, cuidaivos!!!

Welcome, Bertin! And thanks for introducing yourself to the other members. We'd enjoy having you participate on the forum.

The AsturianUS documentary has been on TV in Asturias several times, so I'd bet that you can see it again if you keep an eye out for it (if you watch the TV listings).

As to which language to write in, you did perfectly. We're a community in which maybe a third of us can read both English and Spanish, a third just English, and another third just Spanish. That's why writing in both languages is very helpful. In fact, if you're interested in improving your English, writing and reading messages on the forum is a really good way to do that. Writing in Asturiano is also good, although fewer of us read that. But we're working on it!

AsturianUS, el documental, ha aparecido en la televisión varias veces en Asturias, así que supongo que se pueda verlo de nuevo si estas ojo avizor (si mira la programación televisiva).

En cuanto a que cual lengua se debe escribir en el foro, lo hiciste perfectamente. Somos una comunidad en tal vez un tercero pueda leer el inglés y el castellano, un tercero sólo inglés, y otro tercero sólo castellano. Por eso, es muy útil escribir en ambos idiomas. De hecho, si estás interesado en mejorar tus habilidades en inglés, escribir y leer mensajes en el foro es una buena manera de hacerlo. Escribir en asturiano también es buena, aunque menos lo leemos. ¡Pero estamos intentando aprenderlo!

Yes, a number of forum members participated in the filming. Ron Gonzaléz, in particular, was instrumental in arranging the groups and meeting places. It was a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, the documentary shows me pouring cider badly. I can assure that that after that embarrassment, I practiced and am much better now!

¡Muy buenas!

¡Cuánto tiempo! Por fin el trabajo me permite conectarme un rato para saludaros. La semana pasada dos personas me comentaron que habían visto el documental en el canal historia y que les había encantado. No tenían ni idea de que existiáis

Poco a poco la historia de todos los que se marcharon tan lejos hace tantísimo tiempo va llegando a la gente, a quienes emociona veros a vosotros escanciando (que lo haces fenomenal, mucho mejor que yo, eso fijo) y hablando de los güelos y las güelas que con tanto esfuerzo se buscaron en EE.UU. un futuro y una vida mejor.

Muchos saludos a todos y feliz años 2009. Cuando nos hablemos el año que viene ya seré un año más mayor

I'm happy for the people of Asturias. At last they know a little of the story of the forgotten people. I know if they were here, their hearts would be filled with joy. Asturias lives in West Virginia.

Por supuesto, no dudes eso ni por un segundo, "paisanu". Mi familia también tuvo que emigrar, en mi caso a Venezuela. Esta es una tierra muy especial, mucha gente de otras comunidades españolas dicen que es la tierra más bonita del país.
