Seeking information on Jose Yglesia Fernandez
Posted: Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:31 pm
My grandfather, Jose Yglesia Fernandez, lived and died in Donora, PA. He was born in San Adriano, Asturias, Spain in August 1901, and arrived in the United States through Ellis Island on July 10, 1920. He died in Donora in 1970.
While in Donora, he worked at the zinc works. His nickname was Studebaker, since that's what he drove, and I'm told many in the area were given nickname based on their cars.
My Grandmother is Pauline Barron Fernandez, and my Father is Robert (Bob) Fernandez currrently residing in Austin, Texas. My Aunt is Carmen (Fernandez) Barndollar currently living in Charleroi (Lock Four).
I am trying to find information on his arrival into the United States, and have tried the Ellis Island website many times without much luck. Can someone point me in another direction? Any and all help is most appreciated.
Bless You!
