Hi, :D

My grandmother used to make us a wonderful mixture when we had a bad cold

1. In a small saucepan she poured a glass of white wine (the size of the glass depends on your “thirst” ), added 3-4 dried figs (this is the secret  ) and 2 sugar spoons. Then, she boiled the mixture for 3-5 minutes (some foam is formed). Let the mixture to cool for a few minutes.
2. Drink the hot sweet wine and stay in bed  .
3. In a few hours your cold disappeared :D .

I love to drink this mixture, even withouth having a cold.....

I hope you enjoy this hot wine....is really nice.
Marta.

Hola :D

By "prickly pears" or "higos pasos" do you mean dried figs or the cactus that is called prickly pear al otro lado del mar? My guess is dried figs, but some of our members in the EEUU may be a little confused.

It does sound like a good recipe. I don't think I'll wait for a cold.

Figs are also very good cut in half and lightly grilled over a fire, then placed on fresh baby greens and topped with a little crumbled cabrales.

I love figs.

Bob, is your recipe for fresh or dried figs?

------------------

Me encanta higos.

Fresh figs. A drizzle of balsamic vinegar on them is also good.

My family's recipe to cure the cold

1 cup of milk
1 egg yolk ( mixed with the cold milk )
4 cloves
lemon peel
2 or 3 cinnamon sticks
1/4 spoon of nutmeg
1/4 spoon of anise
1 tablespoonful of honey
1/2 spoonful of vanilla
1/2 cup of run

Boil the milk with the cloves, lemon peel, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg,
anise. When it starts to boil you take it out of the heat, then you take
away the dry ingredientes, you add the honey, vanilla and the run
you serve it and you feel like a new born baby !

Hi, Raquel:

Is this recipe that of a punch? :D

We have several recipes for punch. Some of them include "orujo" instead of ron, others coffee instead of vanilla, condensed milk instead of milk and honey, etc......all them wonderful to sweep away a bad cold.....
Personally, I hate those made with orujo, I find it horrible....
(Orujo: strong alcoholic liquor distilled from grape or herbs pressings)

Hola Raquel:

This is a punch we use to cure the colds.
I am not going to wait for a bad cold to try your recipe...it sounds so good!

suena tan buena!
