SHINNSTON — Tony Fernandez, 89, formerly of Lamberts Run, died on January 18, 2010, at Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins, WV.
He was born July 4, 1920, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Atanasio and Maria Alvarez Fernandez.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Frank and Joe; one sister, Rita; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Fernandez.
He is survived by a brother, Faust, and wife Roxie Fernandez of New Jersey; nieces, Mary Jo Crites, Spartanburg, SC, Doris Secreto, Clarksburg, Sandra Lefever, Shinnston, Liz Crystal and Patricia Egan, New Jersey.
Friends will be received 5:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike Street, Shinnston.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, with Pastor Brian Plum officiating. Entombment will be the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery Mausoleum, Shinnston.
