Art: I also have copies of my grandparents birth and baptismal certificates and their naturalization certificates. My mother was born in the US in 1933 and my grandparents became US citizens in 1940. Is this all I need?-some of thes papers are falling apart they are so old. Should I request updated copies? If I would like spanish citizenship can I retain my US citizenship and have dual citizenship? Forgive me for being so naive in this area but every spanish citizen I speak to makes a point of letting me know that since my grandparents were from Spain that I can claim spanish citizenship. I'm not sure that I would pursue spanish citizenship, but can it be that easy that I have the documents I need already?

Cando91, you should start your own thread so we don't get confused. I'll spread these messages for you.

Yeah, you're lucky. Many people are having a hard time locating these documents. I think that you have most of the right documents. If I remember correctly, the birth certificates have to be in the last year or six months (not sure exactly). You'll also need your birth certificate and your mother or father's birth certificates. You may need to get a copy of your grandfather's naturalization papers again, but I doubt it. See this for more details:

Update: I think you'll need recent and certified copies of the documents. Some of them may need to be "apostille." You'll also need to have birth and marriage certificates for your parents and your own birth certificate.

See these messages and the ones following them for more information on what is being required:
