Margaret Salentro, 85, of Clarksburg, died Saturday (April 24, 2010) at the John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center, Fairmont.
She was born at Spelter on Jan. 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Bernardo and Sabina Rodriguez Gonzalez.
In February 1945, she married Dominick Salentro, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2001.
Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Trotta and her husband Albert of Fairmont; one daughter-in-law, Becky Salentro of Shinnston; five grandchildren, Joe Trotta, Gina Koski and her husband Eddie, Stephanie Hardman and her husband Kevin, Chris Salentro and Jason Salentro; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hardman, Ashley Hardman, Gabriella Koski, Gianna Koski and Dominick Trotta; one brother, Jesse Gonzalez and his wife Angie of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by one son, John Salentro; two brothers, Caesar Gonzalez and Leo "Footie" Gonzalez; and one sister in infancy.
Margaret was a homemaker and member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church Altar Society.
Friends may call at Perine Funeral Home, U.S. Route 19 South, Shinnston, from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Karl Wohinc as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg.

I grew up next door to this family. Margaret was a sweet person. She always had a smile for you and would say, "Hello, honey how are you?" I visited with her at the Health Care Center. She still had that sweet smile with, "Hello Ronnie, how are you?" I'll miss her as well as all that have gone before her.
