seeking information on Joseph Garcia-Gomez

Post by lmjaynoo »

My name is Lisa Gomez-Jaynes, I am looking for family, possibly in Miquel de Barcena, Tineo, Asturias.

We have a baptism certificate from Miquel de Barcena in Tineo, with my grandfather's family names on it. We have found papers filled out by a priest in 1928, which we believe were to complete his citizenship in the U.S.

I do know that my grandfather was a shepherder, possibly in this part of Asturias. My grandfather came Los Angeles in the early 1900's. He had brothers that went either to South America or Cuba. We lost contact with a relative writing to us from Asturias in the early 70's. My aunt is the only one left alive and I would like to find the family for her.

I am looking for someone in Tineo who might know the family history of the Garcia-Gomez, who came to the U.S. to Los Angeles/Monterey Park, and his son, Joseph Gomez II, of Bakersfield, California.

My grandfather was tighted lipped about his family. My interest is finding family and knowing my roots! I still have searching to do, so this is my passion!

I have combined your two messages. Please don't start a separate thread that is about the same topic because having the information to more than one place makes it very difficult to follow the flow of the thread.

If you want to introduce yourself, please tell us about yourself (rather than telling us about your grandparents again).

Also, I've edited your post to make it a little easier to read. Remember that many of our members are Asturians and many of them do not read English, so we much write clearly, with good punctuation and capitalization.

If you can't write in Spanish, ask to have someone translate your message.

But first, try the tools in the second link of my first message to you. You should use the Spanish White Pages, inserting your family names, and Tineo and Asturias to see if anyone still lives there.
