The Widower and the Xana: a Celtic Myth in Asturian folklore

"The Widower and the Xana" was collected from oral tradition in East Asturias by Aurelio del Llano in early XXth century, then again by Berto Peña a few years ago. This text tracks the ancient origins of the tale, back to a Celtic myth about kingship and sovereignty which has come down to us recorded in medieval Irish sources.
The paper is intended for people without prior knowlegde about Asturian culture.
