Hola Amigos,
It has occurred to me often that I may be the first person of Asturian and European Spanish heritage to be born in Jefferson County, West Virginia.
My family came to the county primarily to race horses in 1944, and decided to establish a residency here thus making us the first Spanish family of any heritage or ethnicity to permanently settle in Jefferson County. My oldest brother and sister were born elsewhere prior to the 1944 relocation.
My parents who were traveling from racetrack to racetrack thought it was particularily prudent to give us children a stable home environment; therefore, in the process they made history and have the distinction of being first.
