I'm trying to do some research on ancestry.com and their database is limited when it comes to Spanish documents.
I'm stumped - I've been told my family is from Asturias, but then I'm also told of a last name of Ruiloba in the family that no one actually has (at least not that I know of). I know that Ruiloba is also a town in Cantabria (so Asturias doesn't make sense).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Good website for Spanish geneology research?

Ruiloba
It's possible that someone was given the name Ruiloba after moving to Asturias from Cantabria to distinguish him from someone with the same given name. Eventually it may have come to be regarded as the family's surname.
Instead of looking for a geographical place with that name in Asturias, I would look at telephone listings for the surname.
There is a Hotel Ruiloba in Camango, not far from Ribadesella and Llanes, in eastern coastal Asturias. Perhaps the staff there would know of some family with the Ruiloba surname.

If you look at the stickies in the Genealogy section, you'll find some good suggestions. I'd particularly recommend the ones on this page:
