I am looking for the ancestors of my great-grandfather Antonio Vicente Lopez Menendez. He was born 29 April 1864 Oveido, Asturias, Spain. He died October 1918 in Tampa, Florida, USA. His parents were Antonio Lopez and Maria Josefa Menendez Garcia. His father was born in Barrio del Puerto Santiago de las Villa de Vivero on unknown date. His parents might be Antonio Maria Lopez and Rita Ponte y Bermudez. His mother was born in Cillero, Asturias on unknown date and died on 18 March 1923 in Asturias. It is believed she was the daughter of Vicente Menendez Nunez and Maria Garcia Villasuso. I have been unable to confirm. If true, I need dates and locations of birth and death.

Estoy buscando a antepasados de mi bisabuelo, Antonio Vicente López Menéndez.. Nació 29 Abril 1864 en Oviedo, Asturias, España. He died October 1918 en Tampa, La Florida, EEUU. Su parientes fueron Antonio López and María Josefa Menéndez García. Su padre nació en Barrio del Puerto Santiago de las Villa de Vivero. No sé la fecha. Quizá se parientes fueron Antonio Maria López and Rita Ponte y Bermúdez. Su madre nació en Cillero, Asturias y murió en 18 Marzo 1923 en Asturias. Quizá fue hija de Vicente Menéndez Núnez y María García Villasuso. No estoy seguro. Necesito fechas y ubicaciónes de nacimientos y fallecimientos.

Perhaps Rita Ponte y Bermudez?

Data do not match. She should be Rita Menendez García.....

Hi, Robin

Now, it is clear.
I was looking for some places and towns in Asturias named Cillero, but I could not find any.
However, there is a place in Galicia with such a name:
Santiago de Cillero in Lugo, that belongs to the council of Vivero.

So, I think your gg parents were from Galicia and they probably moved to Asturias where their sons were born.

The problem is that we don't know in which town of Asturias they lived. Just "Oviedo" is not enough information as many times "Oviedo" was used as synonymous of Asturias.

If you need information about ggg parents, then you have to check in Vivero.
