Mary Rife, 91, of Spelter passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 24, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on September 11, 1923 on Lambert’s Run a daughter of the late Robustiano and Maria Suarez Menendez.
On July 10, 1947 she married Delbert “Jack” Rife who preceded her in death on January 27, 1973.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Faye Thompson and Michael of FL; her sisters, Ann Broslawsky of Stonewood; and Gloria Hawkins of Bridgeport; her sister-in-law Melba Menendez of Clarksburg; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Constance Caye Rife and infant brother, her brother Joe Menendez; and her brother-in-law David Hawkins.
Mary graduated from Victory High School in 1941. She retired from Stone and Thomas Department Store in Clarksburg. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Spelter as well as St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston on Friday from Noon to 8:00 PM with the Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Saturday, November 29th, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Karl Wohinc as Celebrant . Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences and memories can be shared at www.harmerfuneralhome.com.
