Hi All,
I will be visiting relatives in Asturias in two weeks (for the first time in 16 years!) and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good restaurants in Aviles. Thanks!

Welcome, Paul!
The search tool on the site isn't the best, so I recommend using Google, using a search phrase like this:
site:asturianus.org avilés restaurant
The cities of Avilés, Gijón, and Oviedo are all relatively close to each other and well-connected by bus or train. There are lots of restaurants in nearby towns, too.
Here are a couple of threads on the forum with suggestions, but they are older threads:

https://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18980
I'll post a message on our Facebook page to see if others have more recent suggestions for you.

I guess the most obvious recommendation is Tierra Astur, in C / San Francisco, in the very historical center of Aviles. It is perfect if you want to get an idea of traditional Asturian cuisine, from tortos de picadillo to frixuelos.
Also, La Chalana in Avenida Conde de Guadalhorce, next to the river, excellent seafood.

Estos son tradicionales, muy buenos y no se puede ir a Avilés sin ir a verlos: Resturante Casa Tataguyo, (
http://tataguyo.com/ ), comer "longanizaa con patatas", Restaurante-sidreria Casa Lin (
http://www.sidreriacasalin.com/ ), marisco y pescados.
Estos son cerca de Avilés, en Gozon, en Cabo de Peñas: Resturante Casa Maravilla (
https://www.tripadvisor.es/Restaurant_R ... urias.html ), Restaurante Casa Rexidor (
https://www.tripadvisor.es/Restaurant_R ... urias.html )
Estos son unos platos tradicionales: Fabes, Tortos, Pote, pescados y mariscos y cachopo. Como consejo, pedir poco, ya que las raciones son muy abundantes.

Muchas gracias a todos! My grandparents were from Asturias (Paneda Nueva and Tarna) and I have visited a number of times, but never been to Aviles. Can't wait to be back!

Many thanks to Mouguias and Indalecio Fernandez for their replies!
I hope you enjoy your visit! I'd really love to go, too. I've enjoyed the restaurants in Avilés and usually gain a few pounds while I'm there!
